It's The Most Wonderful Time For A Beeeeer!

Here it is. Finally.

The biggest shopping day of the year.

Some might say I'm wrong.

'Black Friday' in the States you say? Hah. Child's play.

'Boxing Day' in Canada? To that I say bullshit, fiddlesticks and Cockfosters! (that last one was for you, Bub)

Everyone should know that it's the last Saturday before Christmas that is the universal craziest shopping day of the year. Everyone's off work. Everyone just got paid.

I feel like Frodo Baggins. I've just entered Mordor and I'm staring down Sauron.

If you're not a Lord of the Rings geek like me, Sauron may just look like a big, fiery vagina to you. Which would inspire the same feelings of trepidation. So it works.

If I survive this weekend, I'll probably have one more Christmas Countdown post for you next Wednesday.

My brother in law is coming for a visit from Florida today. I love Steve, he's awesome. I lucked out in the in-laws department. I wish I could spend more of it visiting instead of working, but such is the life of a retail worker.

I really suffer for my craft. A bona fide tortured artist.

Ok, I draw the line at cutting off my ear. I wear my hair up a lot.

Hope everybody's last week before Christmas goes well! Shop as much as you can to support your local retailers and keep lovely people like me in a job! :)

You'll need a good Canadian beer after today. Time for a Keiths! :)

Keiths!!! Oh what I wouldn't do for a Keiths. I haven't had one in 5 years...they don't sell it here :( Everytime we went for a Gaelic football tounrament, my friend and I would joke that we were going on an all-Keiths diet lol :)

Hi Kyna,

Good luck with your Black Saturday, I've heard that term batted around here too this year!

I popped out and would you believe it, it was quiet? Fair enough I didn't risk the city centre, but still I was expecting massive queues into the city and nothing. Strange.

Sorry I didn't do much shopping though, and it was in large chain stores anyway. But I'm yet to get my 'Christmas meal' shopping done sometime this week *gulp*.
Quick, give me some of that cockfosters.

Sadly LOTR will never be the same now... All I'll see are Vaginas.
(Have you seen Juno??? God I love that movie, especially when she says 'When I see them all running like that, with their things bouncing around in their shorts, I always picture them naked, even if I don't want to. All i see is pork swords.' Amezin.)

Hi Kyna,
I went with Amanda to Bournemouth today, with all of the best intentions of doing our first bit of shopping. The crowds weren't only hell, but stupid as well. We spent too much time walking around prople who didn't seem to have their eyes open, before deciding 'stuff it!', and shut ourselves in the tapas restaurant for a couple of hours before heading to Soho Bar in Westbourne. We didn't buy a single thing but enjoyed the day more. Maybe Monday for the pressies! I enjoy your retail tales....take care.

Funny, I was thinking of that today - we've been hit with more snow here (country grinds to a halt, blah, blah, blah) and I thought, 'what a load of Cockfosters!' Great minds and all that ;)

I'm sure you'll manage to survive the week to regale us with stories of yet more of the crazies that pose as customers. Whether it be poo or porn (or both *shudder*), good luck!

Btw, don't cut off your ear. It'll make an awful mess and it'll make wearing sunglasses very difficult.

Liz: Actually I just saw Juno for the first time about a month ago. It was a great movie! :D I do love the term "pork sword"...

Sure wasn't quiet here. The traffic was horrendous...when I got to the mall (where my store is)I knew I'd have a bastard of a time getting a parking spot. I lucked out and it only took me 5 minutes to find one...when I was driving up an aisle, and saw someone's rear reverse lights pop on, I literally pumped my fists in the air and yelled, "Yes!!"

Gary: Stupid sure is the word. It was like idiots on parade yesterday. I choose eating over shopping any day, you made a good detour! :)

Bub: Oh, I've already collected a whole blog post's worth of stories from yesterday, next Wednesday's post may be a long one! lol

Joy: Oh I sure miss Timmy H's too :( Actually, the thing I miss most are their sandwiches. I loved their sandwiches!!

I did survive the day, but just barely. And I came home to find a house full of drunken relatives LOL. Thatw as the fun part... ;)

I feel for you Kyna. Hang in there. I'm not really one for shopping and prefer to do most of it online, in my fuzzy slippers. But when I was still as school I had a Saturday job in a shop, so I can sympathize with you about the crazy goings on this time of year.

I was out and about but got home before 9am. People were talking about how awful it was yesterday. I'm glad I was home before the rush hit.

Okay Kyna, after reading for a while I've got to jump on in here. You had me at Cockfosters!!! Isn't that the most awesome thing? It's a suburb in north London- it would be wouldn't it? Only in England!- and the last stop on the Underground's Picadilly line. If you spend much time on the tube, on that line, you'll hear the announcements "This train bound for Cockfosters" all the freaking time! lol A friend and I have a promise to each other that one day we're going to actually GO to Cockfosters, but for now it just exists in our minds like some mythical land...like perhaps...Gondor...(ah ha- see what I did there LOL I'm a huge dork.) Anyway, love that pic of Sean. It's one of my favourites. He was such a delicious Boromir. :)
