I'm Bringin' Sexy Back

'Cause my tuberous begonia is SEXY.

Seriously. Look at that thing. I'd marry this plant if I could. Would that make me a Polyplantamist? O_O

Maybe I shouldn't. It could be all beauty, and no brains, right? Then I'd just get bored and cheat on it with another plant after a few years.

Nope, marriage is definitely out of the question. It'll just have to be my trophy plant for awhile...

If you did marry it - it would be way easier to dump it, eh?

How will it nod and say "I do".. ~bangchik

God, I love your posts! I once thought I could marry chocolate chip cookies but I always eat them before I hit first base.

When I first started gardening, before I knew anything about it, I grew some of these in a hanging basket on my mother's porch. They were beautiful! Now, I haven't has success with them since.

Very nice plant and you are a nut!

I say keep it as a trophy plant, or a toy boy plant, perhaps. lol

That's pretty funny, Kyna.

It's a lovely trophy plant, and I am a bit jealous, Kyna. I never grow these things anymore. Whenever someone accuses me of having a natural green thumb, I bring out the stories of all the tuberous begonias who've died screaming in my care. ;)

I was given one of these as a gift last summer - I love it. Brought it in the house for the winter and it actually bloomed before I put it back outside recently!

No, those plants definately have brains too as they know where to die in our backyard! A little fraction of sun and they're goners here, but total shade and they love me. I do stroke their egos and tell them how beautiful they are, though...

She is a beauty... I love your choice of pot too ... the red echoed in your buds. It would be very hard to be married to only one plant!

Love your blog! Poor begonia nowadays can proudly choose the state of "single", instead of unmarried old spinster - and here I have to mix the images („Her images were disorderly, but she thought as she chose, she used what images she liked“, wrote Elizabeth von Arnim about Lady Caroline Dester in „Enchanted April“), maybe she is going to sow her wild oats? Heather: Yep, to dump it, all I'd have to do is turn the pot upside down :D

RG: HAHA! That was hilarious :D

Bangchik: It wouldn't :( And it wouldn't be able to shove cake in my face either...

Philip: I tried some about 4 years ago and they did very badly. This time I've given them way less sun, and more water. And they're diong much better! I have a red one too. This one's more unique though.

Aaron: It won't mind, because it's all beauty and no brains! :P

Darla: *takes a bow* Thaaaank yo. :)

Jayne: Ooh, you've taken it to another level! Toy boy plant, eh? Wish I had a pool it could take care of!

Liza: Thanks! :D

Meredith: LOL! The sound of screaming begonias is horrific, I imagine. Especially with the image of you creeping towards them with a maniacal look on your face...O_O

Ginny: I've never tried that. I tried overwintering some tubers once, but that was a disaster lol.

akleine: Yep, I found out the hard (or maybe not so hard) way the first time I tried them. I thought a little bit of sun in the morning would be ok. Newp. Leaves got crispy faster than I could blink.

Carol: Thanks for the compliment on my red pot. I love that pot!! I hope it lasts for awhile. It's fiberglass. It's not in very much sun, so I hope it doesn't fade too quickly...it matches my front door! :D

Britta: You're right, I shouldn't keep a pretty, young plant tied down, should I?

I often find begonias like to flirt with lobelia in pretty close quarters around here. You better keep an eye on him! :)
