They Tried to Make Me Go to Rehab....

Do they have a 12 step program for this?

Sing it, Amy.

=) I am clean of coleus now, but when I was a kid, there was a random plant sale at our church, and I, all of 8 years old, bought at LEAST 6 coleus plants. Possibly more. Coleus binge.

And one morning, going out to our porch to visit my little coleus crowd, I saw one had been snapped/killed (assuming due to some night stalking cat). And I cried. Over a plant. My family thought (once again) I was an odd child.

They are SO gorgeous, and have SO many colors, I TOTALLY get it. =)

However, as I said, I'm clean lo' these many years, but am glad that penchant continues. Lovely creatures worthy of worship.

Hi Kyna,

Coleus, huh? That's quite an addiction you have going on there. And I do dearly hope you manage to avoid selling your body for more; although chuck's gotta be missing a niche there... ;)

Hmmmm, what am I addicted to? Let me see... I would say Coneflower, only they seem to hate me and never survive. Some may claim Roses as we do have lots here; only four were bought by me though. My addiction is tall perennials... Anything tall has me weak at the knees. Veronicastrum, Asters... *goes off to lie down*

Maybe you should call your un-named Coleus Amy? ;) You know, in the spring, you could try growing some from seed, it might help save you from selling and arm and a leg to support your habit! Though I'm a fine one to talk, I seem to have a lot of lavender plants following me home lately...maybe I have a problem too!

You can actually get high by eating Coleus leaves, or so it is claimed. Must admit I never tried it, although once when I was much younger, in my pre-gardening days, I did see a plant place have a Coleus sale. I was tempted, but a lack of information (pre-interweb days) made me invest my money is something else!!!

Bio: I completely understand, that's how I feel every year when the first frost hits and kills it. Of anything I wish were perrenial, it would be coleus.

It's too bad the bitches can't take the cold.

Liz: When I asked if there were any gentlemen out there who had a coleus stash I meant attractive, rich gentlemen (I wouldn't sell my body for anything less) OR that Chuck would take the hint and buy me a coleus farm. He'd earn himself a year straight in bed with me for that.

Clare: Well now she's officially known as Amy! I wish I had a sword so that I could dub her so...

I've never really had luck growing anything from seed, except sunflowers. I thought about it, but I'm just so damn impatient. I'm an instant-gratification sort of girl.

I may try in the spring though, because that way I could grow more varieties than I find in the stores.

I'd be the Coleus Queen!!! *MU-HAHAHA!!!

IG: It never ceases to amaze me that people will ingest anything that they think might make them high.

The last ordinary garden plant in the news to do so was salvia, and I was worried I'd wake up and find my garden raided by partying teenagers...now I have to worry about my coleus too??

Forget teenagers, I hope I don't wake up and find Chuck asleep on the front lawn, with Cheeto-dust on his fingers and coleus leaves in his pocket.

There's no such thing as too much coleus! It's too bad they don't last long outdoors here, but I always have at least one hanging about in the kitchen.

They're usually dead easy to plant from seed too, so go for it!

I'd have to say, as far as addictions go though, I seem to be collecting quite a lot of dianthus, and they don't disappoint either!
