I'm so tired of rain. Rain is a good thing I know, but it's getting too much. We had drought in Eastern NC in the 3 years before this last one. But lately I'm thinking about building an Ark. O_O
Thank goodness for seeing a vibrant patch of red once in awhile.
I suppose I should be grateful it's rain and not snow. I had enough of that in Canada to last me two lifetimes.
My friends Carlin and Sky were nice enough to give me a place in their basement apartment when I really needed a place to live. I loved living with them, best roommates ever. :D
But the basement suite only had two small windows up high, and it was very cold in the winter. In Edmonton in December, I would go to work for 8am and it was pitch dark. I would come home from work at 5pm, it was pitch dark. The office I worked in at the time had no windows to see the world in the daytime. Not to mention that the office often smelled like dead mice. Why you ask? Because the mice were probably depressed too and kept committing suicide behind the filing cabinets.
The winter before I moved here was a really depressing winter for me.Not to mention that that winter was the one where Mr. A found out he had cancer. :P
So maybe I should make the most of the rain and do something fun like canoe to work or something lol. Because in a few short weeks, my garden will be looking like this again, and I'll be happy :) Well, it'll probably look even better than that. This was an early attempt...
Time to get the rain boots on and go play in the mud :D

We are tired of it, too! We need an effective sun dance! gail
Oh Kyna - I do agree! I drove through rain yesterday that nearly drove me off the road en route from Miami! But at least we're not in the grips of a blizzard.
Rain I can handle (which is lucky living in England); snow I can just about stomach; it's when everything is frozen solid that I get annoyed.
I agree, enough rain for now. We need a break around here...hillsides are starting to slide! I'm seriously considering investing in a pair of waders, and I don't even fish!
Gail: I am frantically dancing as we speak :D
GG: Dude, I know! And my car has the worst windshield wipers...the fast speed is far from being fast enough, and they smear :( It sucks driving home from work at midnight on a Saturday in the driving rain...Glad you didn't drive off the road!!
IG: Thank goodness those type of freezes are extremely rare here. Ground's frozen solid, and a three inch layer of ice on the car...bleah. This rain though...I'm tired of walking into work looking like I swam there :D
CVF: I'll save you a place on my Ark lol! You're in California aren't you? You guys just seem to get pounded by everything. :( Fire, landslides, earthquakes...I don't think I'm brave enough to ever live there lol.
We've been having a good lot of sun the past week or so, after a dismal and dark January; the only caveat is that it's basically frigid outdoors. However, out of the wind there's a definite heat in the sun's rays now, and that encourages me. We'll make it through. I laughed out loud about the mice committing suicide behind the filing cabinets. Here, they move into our basement, and our seven cats have great sport.
I was smiling as I read your post. You see....here in the desert, we get tired of the sun. Day after day....it is sunny. So, we all get excited when a rainy day is predicted. So, I will throw a little of our sun your way. Could you send us some of your rain?
Hi, I left an award for you on my "Sustainable Living" post. Hope it cheers you up. xx
Hope that the rain eases off soon Kyna. I have worked in an office with no windows too - absolutely soul destroying! The thought of suicidal mice made me laugh - I shouldn't really but ........ :)
Hey, my office building smells like dead mice too! :)
I am just glad I have a nice big window. There is a bronze mirrored building out there that reflects the sky in gold and I love watching the birds glide in front of it.
Nice little bird hangout you have there! :)
Sorry to hear you're having cruddy weather. May the sun shine on you soon!
Jodi: Glad you got a laugh out of my post :D I know what you mean about those warming rays...that makes all the difference, even in the winter in Canada lol :D
Noelle: Haha! It's funny how the grass is always greener, isn't it? I have this friend that lives in Brisbane, Australia, and it's always hot. Even in the winter, there's never snow. And he just LONGS for a couple of months of cold lol. I'll definitely take you up on your offer and trade you though ;)
Pam: Thank you! I'll run right over to your blog after I finish up here, and check it out :D
Anna: I'm kind of in the same boat right now with no windows. My music department in Barnes & Noble is near a mall entrance, so no natural light comes in there either. I kind of feel like a mole coming out of work LOL It's ok to laugh at the mice, it makes me forget the ill feeling at the memory lol.
Ms. S: Isn't that smell gross? Our office was in kind of an industrial district, so they were quite pervasive. And it would take weeks to track down where the smell was coming from, bleah :(
Jayne: Thank you! :) I think tomorrow we're supposed to see some sun, but the trade off will be a lot colder air. I'll take that trade though! lol
I love seeing the birds and I can see that you do too. I hope your weather gets better. I'm not sure where you are in NC, but didn't it just turn to freezing rain in many parts of NC??!! I am in Virginia, where we just got socked with 2 feet of snow! We're pretty much snowed in at the moment. It's unusual to get quite this much, so of course, people have gone a bit nuts;-) I'm glad to meet you...I haven't had a chance to get around to meet so many newer garden bloggers...as you can see, there are a TON of us!!! Take care, and think spring;-)
Hi Jan! :) Nice to meet you as well :D You're right, I do love birds. I could sit and look at them eating all afternoon. They're as much a part of my garden as my flowers are :D
I live right near Swansboro, NC which is about an hour north of Wilmington. My house is about a mile away from the intracoastal waterway. We did get a little bit of freezing rain in this last week, which caused some icy conditions. But I fared better even than some of my friends. They live just a little inland from me, and they got snow and I didn't. Living right on the coast keeps that away from us most of the time :) I'm glad you liked my blog enough to follow it! :D
Yeah I looked forward to this weekend and its raining and there are puddles inches deep sitting on the flowerbeds. I can't wait to see some fresh green around here too only thing is how am I gonna have time to blog and read everybody elses when spring finally hits us.
I've been thinking the same thing. I think I may have to quit my job :P lol.
Thanks for stopping by! :)
Yes, rain is a good thing. The next world war will be fought over fresh water or water fit to drink. The US Government (congress) is toying with ideas of selling water from the Great Lakes to raise money for them to give away. Imagine that.
I just added a piece to the post you read earlier on my birds blog.
Hopefully you will not have to build that arch... I suppose we should come up with some sort of game or clothes (more flexible that what is available) that allow us to work out in the rain... bug free ... refreshing... I sometimes love working in the rain... of course if it is pouring and soggy ... well that is another thing all together. I am sitting here in the sun and hope it comes your way today too! ;>)
Abraham: I actually believe that. World is going in a crazy direction...
Carol: I actually love to be in the water, but hate when it rains on me. My husband always says 'You won't melt!' lol. I just hate the feeling of wearing wet clothes, and the feeling of rain on the back of my neck lol. But mostly it's just the gloom I can't stand. My favourite rains are the ones where it showers on and off in between sunshine :D Thanks for sending the sun my way! It's worked, because there's not a cloud in the sky today!
But rain is part and parcel of gardening world... But we can still do gardening even on your dream Ark as those doing balcony gardening... ~BANGCHIK
You are very right, Bangchik :D I'll have hanging baskets up and down the side of it ;)
aloha kyna,
blame it on el nino....this is usually our rainy season here in hawaii, typically we get over 100 inches yearly and this month has been very dismal and all my tropicals are wilting....i'll trade you a day of magical rain if you would like????
100 inches? O_O And there's not a lot this year?
Please, take some of my rain! lol
