Snowtorious B.I.G

I heard Jon Stewart refer to the snowstorms as that the night before last, and I'm still chuckling about it. And it fits with my theme! :D

Just saw that we're supposed to get an inch of snow down here overnight, and in the morning.

I hear scoffs out in the audience! "An inch, you say? Pish tosh!"

Ok guys, put away the pitchforks. Don't spear the messenger!

Hey, that's more than we got last year. I even know the exact date it snowed, because it happens so infrequently.

January 20, 2009.

And there's that charming bear hat again. Ah, my husband's so lucky he found someone like me :P

An inch of snow is nothing to me but something to play in. And you know I'll be out playing in it tomorrow!

Everything shuts down here when it snows. My work will be closed for sure.

I'm not afraid to drive in the snow. I did it for years before I moved here from Canada. It's not me I'm worried about though, it's the other drivers. Jacksonville, NC is one of the worst cities for drivers in the USA. There are articles in the paper about it every month. I had a co-worker from New York City, who even agreed lol. It's because it's a military city, where people are from all over. It's hard to find someone truly 'local' here.

I really don't want to be out on the roads when people are landing in the ditch left and right, smashing into the back of my car. That happened last spring, I don't want to go through that again so soon.

The only thing I don't like about the snow is that it means it'll be longer till spring :( I'm still waiting on the daffodils to bloom. It looks like one of them might make it out of the bud tomorrow.

Just in time for Biggie to hit. :P

UPDATE!!! Now it will be 2-6 inches!

This snow thing is unreal ... we got stuck in Dallas, Texas for four hours yesterday en route to California!! All because runway was closed and planes had to be de-iced...... I didn't think that Texas got snow!!!

Cute pics - it looks like you guys had fun in the snow. I have a hard time believing your drivers could be worse than drivers in New Mexico. Here, they drive like they forget they're driving. Like, "la, la, la, la, oh, I'm driving, oops." It's maddening!

Hi Kyna,

Well, I have never driven in the snow....I grew up in CA and moved to AZ, so I really have not had much opportunity. I thought Arizona had the worst drivers...;^) I hope you post photos of your snowfall.

Hahaha! Having lived for a few years both in the Carolinas and in Atlanta, I totally get this! Glad to be back in my native Florida these days. I love your miniature snowman. What a cute idea!

I was a kid for a few years in Nashville, where one flake in the air meant that the entire metropolitan area ground to an instant halt. (We had far more "snow days" off from school than seriously snowy St. Louis, later, ever had.) So I can just imagine the drivers.

You know, they are actually calling for it to snow 3-6 inches here, and it hasn't snowed here since 1989!

They are already shutting down stuff for tomorrow and it might not even happen!

Nice snow angel. Pity the people who have never made one. Or have never gone tubing. jim

It snows in my area about once every six or seven years (although the nearby mountains do get a coverage most winters).
Last time it happened in the valley I was working in an office of about 100 people and each and every one of us stopped and ran to the window to gawp at it! It is never cold enough to settle on the ground here, so no snow angels for me :(

GG:I didn't think Texas got snow either! But I remember a few years ago that even Mexico City got a freak snowfall. So I guess Texas was due ;)

Liza: Is the driving bad there? I've never been to New Mexico. Mr. A's uncle lives in Santa Fe. He's a nuclear physicist. I wonder if he can drive in the snow. Actually, he probably has a driver...and a butler...I'm rambling, sorry lol.

But yeah. Jacksonville is horrendous. I think it probably has something to do with the average age of the people who live here too. With Marines, it's gotta be somewhere around 20 lol.

Noelle: It's an experience! You're lucky you've never had to do it lol. I will post pics, believe me! I'll try to take a walk with my camera though, so you're not just looking at the same shots, with a tad more snow lol.

FG: I'm glad someone can attest to the madness! Ladies and gentlemen, we have a witness! :D Yeah, I loved that little snowman. He lasted for 2 days lol.

CF: Yeah, you're right. In Canada, we'd almost never had a snow day. If you could dig yourself out with a shovel, you'd be expected to make it to work or school. That's why my friends from there laugh so hard at me living here :P

Jess: I think we're going to get about the same here too. They changed the forecast from this morning. People at work were talking about that 1989 storm here tonight. It was infamous, apparently lol. There's a restaurant we frequent in Beaufort, NC called Clawson's. They have a picture up on the wall of the place buried in snow that year lol.

Jim: Thank you! :) I'm so glad I still get the urge to act like a little kid and play in the snow. I don't think people should ever lose that :D I wish I had a hill to sled down...heck, I wish there was a store around here that sold sleds! I'd have to slide down on a cookie sheet LOL

Gippy: I'm surprised it even snows that frequently, from what I hear from my Australian friends (who live near your area). No wonder everyone rushes to the window! :D

Love that cute little snowman. Have fun in the snow. Good thing you won't have to be out driving in it tomorrow. We haven't had any snow this winter, we usually get it at least once.

I think my work may be open tomorrow night, so hopefully driving conditions will be ok by then. I just hope it doesn't get icey when things freeze up again tomorrow night. O_O

I like the hat! I grew up in the south where things closed down at 3 flakes of snow and nobody could drive in it. I'm amazed to be north of the mason dixon and to see everybody out and about the day after a four foot dump. Fewer school snow days up here for sure. Have fun,

Kelly

Cute photos Kyna! I know what you mean about worrying about the *other* drivers. We have them here too. I keep off the roads on the very rare occasions that we get snow, to save myself from the other idiots out there. Stay safe!

Sunny: Thank you! 110 inches O_O. I have snow envy lol.

And thank you Kelly and Jayne! I've been having a lot of fun, especially today. I'll try to stay safe driving later on...I think my work will be open O_O
